Allocating 8 MB of address space for a stack doesn't really seem like it should be a big deal in a 64 bit world.
@charliesome The problem is that 8 MB tends to fall outside malloc's fast path.

@pcwalton you wouldn't allocate a stack with malloc though, you'd probably mmap it directly -
