The biggest problem with moving CPU steps to GPU in Pathfinder is that I can’t dynamically allocate memory on GPU, and because I have to render Web content I can’t have any arbitrary size limitations.

Virtual memory. Don’t touch it if you don’t need it and it’s free. Pure magic :)

I used to have tons of trouble with large mappings when I was working on Chrome's Wasm implementation. It turns out address space exhaustion is possible even on 64-bit CPUs.
