By itself, ok. As part of the XML Utopia that derailed W3C around early noughties, until we founded http://WHATWG.ORG in 2004 -- not ok.

I got into open source by using XSLT to convert the jQuery XML documentation dump into HTML in a way that didn't require me to learn how to run a server. So there's that.

I found an XSS vuln in LiveJournal based on XSLT back in 2002 or so. That was fun.
