It’s interesting that, for a language often said to be based on regions, the most popular Rust region-based memory management crate, bumpalo, doesn’t emphasize the word “region” anywhere in its documentation.

Mechanically, yes, but are there any properties you'd lose? e.g., in some implementations an object in a child subregion can mutable ref into the parent which, IIUC, might not work here? It'd be an interesting project to implement a general region system with arenas + rust types.
