I think this would be extremely helpful. Same for Rust compiler's own use of library/language features, which is the biggest obstacle to bootstrappability. Only being able to build version N+1 with version >=N is hell.

+1... It's incredibly annoying to have to continuously repackage a bootstrap version with (almost?) every new release, potentially for every supported arch. Unfortunately building go14 to build go18 to build goN... isn't a great model, either. =/

I suspect, but I'm not personally involved. This would have to be worked out with at least Landry Breuil (Mozilla port maintainer & developer), Solène Rapenne (-stable packages), and the Rust port maintainer, Sebastien Marie.
