It's *really* hard to tell the difference between an SVG rendered at a certain size and a raster image of that SVG scaled to that size, if that raster image has all mipmap levels and is using trilinear filtering.

Performance. It's almost impossible to beat texture filtering in performance, even with a fast vector rasterizer like Pathfinder. Even if you're hitting 60 GPS, there's power consumption to consider, as well as the fact that in a game you don't want to spend time on the HUD.
