It's *really* hard to tell the difference between an SVG rendered at a certain size and a raster image of that SVG scaled to that size, if that raster image has all mipmap levels and is using trilinear filtering.

For some reason when I first read this I thought you were talking about scaling the raster image up, which seemed impossible to believe. But now I think you’re only talking about scaling down.

It's trilinear filtering, which is linear interpolation between upscaling and downscaling. Helps to avoid abrupt transitions.
