lmao, i was just clowning on kvark by chastising him for not rewriting our codebase in Modern C++20 so that modules would fix all the awful build issues he was running into

more seriously, arguing whether it would have been more effective for us to have invested those resources into improving the quality of our c++ code is misunderstanding the nature of mozilla's purpose and mission statement. rust is a public good, and that's why we made it.

I like C++, and love all the extensions since C++11, but I just spent two very long days this week chasing down a lifetime bug in someone else's C++14 library that would have been a compiler error in Rust. So there's that.
