Rust is an amazing accomplishment and doesn't need to be defined by "not good enough yet". Rust does something everyone would have said was impossible when I started programming. Literally impossible. And yet here I am writing a shell a decade later. That's progress.

The fact that it's zero-cost and compatible with minimal runtimes is awesome. I don't think this has sunk in with many people — you can use this syntax in low-level firmware.

More than anything this is what I'm excited about. It's what I already do I'm a painful, manual fashion in C - but idiomatic and far far easier to write. I'm under no illusions that it's a panacea, but man is it gonna improve quality of life - and correctness, of course!

Rust also made me a half decent programmer in 2019, personally thats a huge accomplishment for a language :)

Who says that Rust got nothing done in 2019 as compared to C++?

Rust is great. I hadn't had this much fun learning a language since a long time.

"Rust got nothing (big) done" translates to me: Rust became complete enough and tries to avoid feature boat now. I like the minimalism of Go, C++ complexity scares me. Rust sits somewhere in between.
