Today I discovered that there are actually people who claim to prefer writing Petzold-style Win32 code in C to GTK+/Qt/Cocoa/web.

I agree its a bit less 'comfortable' than a closure occasionally but i've managed FAR more complex UI's in that style of Win32 C than with JS/web. In fact makepad's UI model is a bit of a return to the old wndproc (except now its nested/strongly typed)

Tbh, events in JS should’ve been objects, not strings. I may be biased, because I write TypeScript whenever I can. The Node.js EventEmitter is super annoying. (DOM stuff is okay, because who ever extends that.
