I mean, you can see how much nicer 2017 and 2019 installers are I would like to know why you're not installing the VC 2015 toolset from the VS2019 installer -- it makes life much easier

Imagine if visual studio was just an application and it built stuff using build tools that were in a directory somewhere. Imagine a world where you could have two different versions installed side by side....

That’s the 2015 VS installer. To be fair rust updates weren’t as smooth as today back then either. Also: that’s an IDE. You can get a c# compiler easier. Installing a full IDE with good rust autocomplete/type hints and tooling is still no picnic. IntelliJ/CLion is almost there.
