If Rust is pointless because sometimes you need unsafe blocks, then memory protection is also pointless because sometimes you have to switch to ring 0.

Ah, the classic "hardware folks design privilege levels" nonsense. If you just make it so operations to see what ring you're in are privileged, just two rings 0/1 gives you infinitely many for free. *sigh*
