Cringing at how bad the writing is in that PGP post. If I’m not going to hit “publish” the same day I write, I’m never going to hit “publish” (I have like 10 other posts in the hopper I’ll never post), but if I do, I’m like, jesus, I wrote better in high school.

I think I’ve always been like this; I’ve always been 100x more prolific on FIDONet BBS’s, Usenet, and HN, because the bar to clear for writing quality is low enough that my first drafts are fine.

Same. There’s something about blogging that makes it feel Serious, and as a result I just don’t do it often. On HN and Twitter, I’m like “if I post something dumb, it’ll get downvoted and buried, oh well”. Blog posts, OTOH, feel like they’re going on my permanent record.
