One thing I think is underappreciated about vector APIs like <canvas> is how easy they are to get started with. Even kids can learn them. Fast vector rendering opens the door to high-performance graphics to a much wider audience than before.

What I was thinking of to start with is the ability to write GLSL to fill vector paths. This seems like a pretty natural evolution.
