I think you write more rust than I do. My feeling is similar but a little more nuanced: The quality of the rust ecosystem is so high that lots of things just work in the long tail. And if your project really depends on robustness, Rust pays for itself and then some.

But on the other hand, it's pretty clear to me that I often spend cognitive cycles figuring out the solution to problems that aren't really relevant to my problem. The other stuff mostly pays for that cost in a lot of problem domains, but it's not a trivial amount of time.

It becomes less productive if you were to implement similar API's to other productive tools, e.g my current undertaking with SpriteKit and gfx-hal.
