Rust needs more minimal image libraries. The "main" one is far too monolithic and bloated (in terms of features and binary size). I also dislike its API.https://github.com/image-rs/image

I'm currently playing around with WASM, and I was pleasantly surprised that image-rs even compiled. But its footprint was around 3.5 MB(!) after stripping. I think a non-GPU option would also be a good thing for any minimal lib, if it makes sense for the scope of the lib.

Minor update: I used only the png crate, and it adds 92 KB to the release-mode stripped binary. Kinda annoying, since this one linkage constitutes 33% of my whole app's WASM size.
