I read it as mostly being about the anti-development policies of SF planning board, not nostalgia for an older time in SF (I lived in SF more than 10 years ago and don’t think it was much better then).

Agreed regarding that; I'm as YIMBY as they come and Peskin and the rest are awful. But you can make that point without all the clickbait.

Also, the article ignores the rest of the Bay Area, for example Oakland. Sure, a lot of artists have moved to the East Bay from SF. But so what if they're outside the city limits proper? They're still here.
