Ah okay... although I disagree with references. I can't think how passing a reference is any less safe than passing a raw pointer, although that could be a hole in my knowledge. Explain?

It seems to me that it’s overlooking that UAF only became a problem after stack buffer overflows from string functions stopped being relevant.
