It sounds counter-productive to us since it's just more C++, tbh. Would just make more of the compiler harder to onboard/maintain.

How is borrow checking incompatible with SSA? We do it on SIL

I’m pretty sure it’s not impossible to use SSA (
@nikomatsakis knows better than I do). It’s just easier to not have SSA during borrow checking because that lets us model “let” and “let mut” as first-class and map them back to source easily. SSA can be built afterward. - 8 more replies

I'd probably stay away solely for the reasons it's done by Google. Too much NIH, created-by-Google-for-the-sole-benefit-of-Google (is there a word for that?) and widespread anti-intellectualism for me.

Rust compiler is quite slow slow, is it due to many (excessive?) layers? Abstraction slows things down.
