From http://skia.org : “While engineering of the core components is done by the Skia development team, we consider contributions from any source.” Implying I can’t lead engineering of “core components” of the vector graphics renderer unless I work at Google.https://twitter.com/auchenberg/status/1088587621721231361 …

I interpreted that differently. That Mozilla could be a fork of Chromium, and could lead on its own. With the capabilities that make Mozilla worthwhile plugged into the other engine.

With all due respect, you have no idea how impossible it would be to keep that fork up to date. You can’t fork Skia, period.

Why should you be entitled to lead engineering & get contributions accepted if someone else is legally/financially responsible for its maintenance & success? Maintaining a fork or slowly raising through the ranks to lead seems allowed there

1. The quoted post was about “contributing to Chromium”. Not a fork of it. 2. “Slowly rising through the ranks” is less bad as a bar than “getting hired at Google”, and it’s the latter I’m concerned with.
