From http://skia.org : “While engineering of the core components is done by the Skia development team, we consider contributions from any source.” Implying I can’t lead engineering of “core components” of the vector graphics renderer unless I work at Google.https://twitter.com/auchenberg/status/1088587621721231361 …

Thought: It's time for @mozilla to get down from their philosophical ivory tower. The web is dominated by Chromium, if they really *cared* about the web they would be contributing instead of building a parallel universe that's used by less than 5%? https://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2018/12/06/goodbye-edge/ …

So what I quoted is equivalent to saying that if you care about fundamentally new approaches to vector graphics rendering on the Web you have to work at Google. Not liking this state of affairs is a curious definition of “philosophical ivory tower”.

It’s all lies anyway. Skia won’t take my contributions because it fixes it to run properly on PowerPC which is a platform they don’t support. Instead of taking community contributions to support platforms they don’t, they shut us down and said they only want x86 and ARM.

It’s understandable, though. If they don’t test on a platform it will continue to regress. And people will blame upstream. What if they do a major refactor? They’d remove those past contributions, not knowing how to apply them without time investment. And will get blamed again.

Oh, it's fine, Microsoft isn't interested in working on the "core-components" anymore. They just can't imagine anyone still might, apparently.
