Need shorter sequential critical path if possible. What alg?

SVG fill tiling. It’s inherently too branchy for SIMD. It can be made parallel but at the cost of a lot of work-efficiency: probably not worth it right now.

A reason I've gone for GPU, or SIMD-on-already-multicore, is so many stars need to align ahead of time. In massive parallel world, signals you're already there. Then again.. our internal data rep has moved to Apache Arrow.. so stars largely align out-of-the-box now for cpu too!

Yeah, the current iteration of Pathfinder is hybrid multicore-CPU and GPU, with on the fly streaming from CPU to GPU to hide latency. Works well. Eventually I can try migrating the CPU part to compute shader, but I'm mostly GPU bound already as long as your CPU is quad core.
