I never really understood why people say native APIs are better than the DOM. When I see “native API”, I think CreateWindowExW.

I don't think you could have picked a worse example! WinMain has a well defined signature that anyone with knowledge of the language can understand. "<!DOCTYPE html>" is a completely arbitrary string, offered in the hopes that the browser doesn't fuck up the rest of the doc.

It’s mostly snark, but still, Win32 has tons of boilerplate and I hate it whenever I have to code in it :) For random graphics experiments I use WebGL when I can just because it’s so much less boilerplate. (Also I mostly agree, but WINAPI and TSTR are pretty nonintuitive.)
