That isn’t the kind of decision that turns on low level employees having passions, or some vagaries of hardware. Android eventually copied many aspects of Apple’s FBE, but only after several years — and incompletely.

2/2 Honestly, I think the problem here is not the difference between iPhone and the Pixel line. Problem is getting those phones into staffers’ hands. Ideally campaign IT would be publicly funded… (or cos. give phones away, but campaign finance laws probably prevent that)

Thinking about this more, why doesn’t someone lobby blue states to publicly fund IT for Congressional races? It would be a rounding error in the states’ budget (CA has, what, 45 districts?) and would probably be an easy sell politically, given all the concerns around Russia, etc.
