I frequently point out the Quantum efforts as the opposite of a rewrite. Instead of halting Firefox development or putting Firefox in maintenance mode, from the outside, it looks like Servo was designed intentionally to piecemeal replace parts of Firefox.

In my head, Stylo feels like it was a big rewrite of a subsystem but not one that would jeopardize the whole Firefox platform if it couldn't be pulled off.
