Isn’t Apple effectively locked in to supporting OpenGL in perpetuity, since Safari supports WebGL?
My point is that they can’t remove it entirely, because of web compat for Safari.

@dati91 already demonstrated some pretty neat automatic call mapping in@Servo between OpenGL & Vulkan ( https://youtu.be/SK5iEOc57wQ ), I think Apple might be angling to have Safari do something like that when they eventually throw out the GL backend entirely...Thanks. I kinda have a feeling that they will ship some shim or compatibility layer for OpenGL on top of Metal. It would be crazy to simply deprecate it. I am not optmistic towards Apple anymore...

Actually, MoltenGL already exists, although it's neither free nor open-source
