Turns out that cherry-picking random historical precedents doesn't actually establish statistical certainty.

Trump promised that covid would vanish after the election and that his loss would be due to fraud. Since, he's tried hard to make both those predictions come true — and failed.

Intuitively, it seems plausible that those who weren't friends with or didn't live around Biden supporters might be more willing to believe that Biden couldn't have won the election.

"If I lost, I'd be a very gracious loser," Trump said over the weekend. Eight years earlier, he'd suggested that Scots gave someone he didn't like an award by cheating in an online vote.

One way to know that Biden's win wasn't "statistically impossible" was that he won. Another is that one guy making that claim, President Trump, does not have a strong track record on making statistics-based claims.

This is interesting. Limbaugh's medal is, in fact, not listed.

Trump told us before the election that he could only lose if there was rampant fraud and that the virus would go away as an issue after the election ended. He's failed to even remotely prove the former and dramatically failed to ensure the latter.

All sorts of amusing aspects to this, including that Benny has plagiarized Tucker Carlson's patter. But the funniest is the most obvious: Don't flag this, followed by an entirely justified (if wildly understated) flag.

One factor I think plays into the volume of support for Trump's fraud claims is that there really are a lot of people who, based on their personal experience, find it hard to believe Biden could actually have won.

At his rally on Saturday, Trump claimed that he'd have responded with grace had he actually lost. The only problem with that claim is that no prior point when he lost has he responded with grace.

I guess what I’m saying is that maybe one should continue to take his claims with a default position of skepticism.

Eight years ago today Trump speculated that voter fraud was why a guy who’d pushed back on his Aberdeen golf course won Scotsman of the Year.

I hope whoever from the figgy pudding lobby managed to secure that placement in “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” got a healthy bonus.

Now that the election is over they no longer give masks to the supporters behind Trump.
