    Hello, fellow workers! We are a new caucus of UC workers who are determined to build our union, , into a fighting organization. We came together in the wake of the strike, which, despite repression and COVID, forced some concessions while out of contract.

    Thank you for your witness, Micah! Dr. MLK Jr. said this to Harry Belafonte c.1967. He knew the civil rights mvmnt was tied to economic rights/labor autonomy. The struggle for CA is deeply linked to the COLA labor movement led by grad student workers.

    Sign and demand the UC to use their immense funds+ state funds to cancel rent debt for the tenants. The University of California, Berkeley is a major gentrifying force in the Bay Area. Now they are pushing around tenants. We have the tenants backs!

    RAFA-UC stands in solidarity with @GWCUAW and their strike. Keep fighting – you are winning!

    Striking Columbia graduate workers – UC Rank and File Action (RAFA)* stands in solidarity with your just strike, and your entirely reasonable demands for full recognition, union shop, real recourse for harassment and discrimination, childcare, improvements in healthcare and compensation, and a contract without a “no strike” clause. We recognize many of the responses of Columbia’s administration from our experiences in last year’s wildcat strike – it’s as if upper administrators at both of our institutions take strike-breaking tactics from the same book. As you correctly point out – despite Ira Katznelson’s protestations – your work stoppage is neither “regrettable” nor “unnecessary”, but a reasonable response to widely experienced conditions of rent burden and precarity. Do not accept partial concessions; they are a sign your strike is working! Keep fighting – you are winning! If “mutual realism” demands our submission, we cannot afford to be realists.     Victory! UCSC administration ruled to overturn Carlos Cruz’ suspension! Instead, he will face conduct probation, but still be able to study and work at UCSC. This is a massive victory but the fight is far from over. Read an open letter from Carlos here:
