At @UWVirology, we continue to screen positive specimens using SGTF. Confirmation by sequencing usually lags by a few days, but we expect the majority of these SGTFs to be Omicron. If so, definitely seeing a rapid rise similar to reports from South Africa, UK, Denmark, etc. https://twitter.com/pavitrarc/status/1467310081939177476 …pic.twitter.com/1d7Rheqoe6

Quick reminders, caveats: - This is % of SGTF out of positives. Majority still Delta, but Omicron rising. - Current sample positivity rate can be found on @UWVirology dashboard. - Absolute numbers are still small so we need to wait and watch. https://depts.washington.edu/labmed/covid19/

Thanks for sharing Pavitra. So, it was ~13% SGTF on Dec 8?

I believe they process tests from all over WA State, but it may be over represented by King County.

we are back to late February/early March 2020, and @UWVirology is the only lab in the US that knows what’s going on. thank you. unfortunately for me, I live on the other coast. no situational awareness here.

The fact that you think we're back to March 2020 shows how little situational awareness you have

@KevinCTV Do you know if Alberta is tracking Omicron cases via SGTF? Early on, it's going to be a more useful indicator than sequencing, IMO.
