    As it was explained to me once, DC is a company town. The company is the federal government. DC voters, if allowed to, would inevitably vote for laws that aren't in the fed's interests, and that's why the feds will never allow statehood.

    Oof, I see today is the official day of Republicans pretending to oppose D.C. statehood for any reason but the real one, which is a belief that Black voters and federal government employees should be disenfranchised.
