Rees-Mogg confirms he wants MPs to come back after Whitsun recess "I'm asking members to return to their place of work" on June 2. Says "we will not be returning the crowded bustling chamber" of old, as 2m distancing will remain.

Rees-Mogg says Commons proceedings are an "essential part of our country functioning" and "therefore we cannot do our jobs properly from home". He adds: "MPs work is absolutely essential and indeed..we cannot do it from home"

Rees-Mogg adds: "We are facing exactly the same issues as other workplaces, where working from home is not good enough. ..We shouldn't think that members of parliament are some special priestly caste who must be treated differently [from the rest of the country]".

Very interesting that Conservative MP Kate Griffiths points out that many MPs have childcare problems because of the pandemic (eg grandparents can't do it) + ought to continue remote working. Rees-Mogg says only “Parliament is most effective when it meets physically. ”

He has a fair point, Bozo's ineptitude is exposed for all to see when he has no flocks of zealots baying behind him os screaming over opposition MPs questions. This format should remain for PMQ's. It almost makes Westminster look civilised.

As much as I don't agree with most of his policies, Mr Carmichael is spot on with this.
