Remember when state Republicans used to brag about how often they sued Barack Obama? We're headed for a repeat with Biden, and it's about to start. But in their opening salvo over the covid relief bill, the Republicans kind of have a point. I explain:https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/03/17/state-republicans-have-found-their-first-fight-pick-with-biden/ …

And let's not forget about all the federal district judges issuing nationwide injunctions. 2 can play this silly game.

"that’s precisely what many of these same states did when the federal government wanted to expand Medicaid through the Affordable Care Act. They sued and won permission not to accept billions of dollars from the federal government to give their poor citizens health coverage."pic.twitter.com/Aw4j617LN7

No - they don’t. This bill has specific intent and cutting state taxes doesn’t meet that intent in any way. That’s why Yellen put very specific language to prevent this in the bill.

No they do not have a point. The rescue Bill was not designed to give tax cuts to those who do not pay their fair share. Not valid basis to sue.

How is this different than the PPP for businesses? If you spend for approved purposes it’s forgiven. If you don’t, you have to pay it back. Same thing.

Just don’t use the federal money to cut local/state taxes, that kind of defeats the purpose of a stimulus. If you have a problem with that don’t take the money, you know sorta like the money available for Medicaid expansion that some red states just don’t take, same deal here.
