Maybe you saw the Super Bowl ad(s). Maybe your feed is full of promoted tweets for “free" basic filing. Fun fact: it's not always free — even for people who are eligible to pay nothing. 👇👇How to avoid falling into a trap 👇👇

It’s the sort of leadership that’s made Facebook what it is today. Of course, the IRS has spent years auditing the Irish deal, but it seems unlikely IRS will succeed in undoing all that hard work.

But for some reason Sandberg hasn’t tooted her own horn about this. When Facebook announced that it was opening an “international headquarters” in Dublin back in 2008, Sandberg didn’t even mention taxes:

It was a big deal, saving the company potentially tens of billions of dollars that would otherwise just be thrown away on U.S. taxes. The details were a little tricky, but fortunately Facebook had a great team.

Sheryl Sandberg brought a lot to Facebook when she came from Google. But one big contribution that’s been overlooked was raising Facebook’s tax-dodging game:

This new story from is quite a revealing look into corporate tax avoidance. Check out this email exchange where Sheryl Sandberg & other execs strategize on finding tax havens to "park profits." IRS is badly overmatched.

Should any large company be afraid of the IRS? Why would they be -- when the IRS has lost more than a third of its enforcement staff and the audit rate on the biggest companies has been cut in half?

Now Facebook is saying that if the IRS wins, it could cost them $9 billion. But are they really worried about that?

And when the IRS runs out of time before it can even finish its audit, it’s not very scary.

But… when the IRS is desperately searching between the couch cushions to see if it can find the money to hire an expert…. it doesn’t strike fear into the heart of a big corporation.
