    The govt needs to pay attention to what Dover port Chief Executive is saying here. They need to explain consequences to business of leaving CU and SM 'in order that it has what it needs to plan for, and prepare, the required DOCUMENTATION in advance of lorries arriving at ports'

    This is what I, and others, have been on about. I used to clear freight for export in Customs and Excise in Dover 1989-97. All consignments will need customs declarations. This is based on my own experience but I got told I was scaremongering. I have got sick of all this...

    As Richard Burnett the chief executive of the Road Haulage Association tells me, there won't indeed be any delays at Calais, because British trucks/merchants who have not pre-registered all their consignments for customs/reg checks...WONT BE ALLOWED ON THE FERRY/12
