Today I and the 8 yo son of a friend played football (soccer) against my friend and my 8 yo son. It worked really well.

Ab vs Ba was much better than Aa vs Bb or AB vs ab would have been.

It was lots of fun and we were able to teach the boys so much that an hour later they were visibly better players.

Some 8 yos (naming no names) don't like to pass, but they do if an adult teammate tells them to.
