That seems like a perfectly reasonable cause for concern. No? Why would US tech oligarchs be better than other oligarchs?

A lot of people feel Microsoft disproved that idea. Monopolies abound and thrive in tech, and skew things heavily.
I'm not saying SV is perfect. But there is a qualitative difference between SV "oligarchs" and e.g. those in Russia.

I agree. But I also think it is wrong to casually dismiss legitimate concerns about concentration of power.

It's not SV feared, it is Google, Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft etc all. Too much power is the fear regardless of differences with oligarchs

People fear these companies for good reason, they have an outsized influence on society for good or bad.
