One of the most common phrases heard in our household after we realize something interesting: "Boy could you not say that on Twitter."

(Possibly impossible) design spec for Twitter replacement: make that not be said of it.

I think you're describing a bug, not of Twitter, but of contemporary American culture.

Very possibly. But there might be ways to design your way around that bug.

OH is one way to get around this bug. Sometimes you just need a little plausible deniability.

I'm imagining something like Twitter except that posts could be made anonymously, and with "like" voting as a fuzzy-logic "follow".

This would effect the Chatham House Rule, while still allowing the system to figure out whose posts people want to read.

I agree. Unfortunately I'm busy with @tarsnap, and @paulg has said he doesn't want to do another startup... maybe you want to build this?

I might, I haven't been very good at solo projects in the last few years (even worse than before) — that's why I joined @Satellogic.

But it sounds like something that might be manageable as a side project.

Writing controversial things in longer pieces of writing, in a subtle way, seems like a way around this.
