IRBs are focused on protecting study participants' health and privacy. Researchers need checks and balances to prevent unethical studies.

Read about the Tuskegee Syphilis Study (1932 - 1972) to know why IRBs in place, and why those structures are in place. Shockingly unethical.
-
It was only 40 years ago that researchers studied these men to see the impact Syphilis had on their persons and their families.
-
To not know the regulations, to not know why they are in place, and to complain about having to go through security checks seems naive.

Did you read the essay?

I did. Did any of my tweets makes you think I didn't read it?
-
Did you think the person who wrote it doesn't know why IRB was created?
-
What part of the essay makes you think otherwise? He seemed to know very little about everything else related to running an ethical study.
