5 yo says they pray at school but can say what they want. He says "You don't exist."

"You think of wishes you would wish for other people" Side note: wishes are x10 more likely to come true if good is wished for someone else
-
"But how do the thoughts get to them from my brain?"
-
They seep into your brain and change your own actions. Gratitude and kindness are habits you can cultivate.
-
Also, thoughts themselves are weird magic things that arent currently explained by the physical science-explained world.

It was a joke pointing out how non-religious people make faith statements all the time. "sending our love", "sending positive vibes" etc
-
In reality, even as a Christian, I think being forced to pray in school is wrong and will create an unhealthy view of the purpose of prayer
-
5 is, of course, too young to form an independent view on the reality of God. So he is just modeling the behavior he sees around him.
-
It sounds like you have instructed him in your beliefs strongly enough that you don't need to worry about prayer in school swaying him
-
The challenge will come as he gets into his teen years and starts asking real questions for himself.

It's like how startups need a strong, compelling vision. Saying and wishing for it doesn't make it happen but it's a start.
