the power dyamic has changed. Computers rule the world now and everyone can see that, because they all carry one 24/7. Not true in 2005.
That would explain why someone would write about Silicon Valley, but not why they'd attack it.

To explain the latter, you need something else. E.g. automatically attacking anything powerful. Or something more subtle.

It would be a shame if it were as dumb as the former. But Occam's Razor plus my experience with journalists makes me worry it is.

The role of journalists is to question power. Tech, these days, is the obvious power. We see ourselves as outcasts, not kings.
