We also need long term projects. Weekly or even semester long assignments don't teach students how to stick with and really learn a craft.

Seems like much of the problem is that both schools (implicitly) and (many or most) parents assume the other side is responsible for X.

It's the reverence for what has always been and habit of thinking/saying that school is good and important. Hard to accept need for change.

That's a VERY different argument. I'd argue that no-one is teaching it because parents used to, but now assume schools raise their children.

I'd agree if they weren't already taught in such a basic way in many HSs and colleges as to impede recognition of their actual occurrence.
