That's why I recently fired Facebook. It was my biggest time waster.
6 weeks ago I stopped looking at Twitter notifications. The experiment was a resounding success. Try it for a week and see.

do you still have conversations on twitter then? Or just use it to broadcast your thoughts?

Conversations restricted to 140 chars often lack depth though so I don't think he's missing out much if using twitter just for broadcast

Notifications became more manageable when I limited them to only people I follow. Otherwise it's constant Pavlovian responses.

I still try to see what everyone else is saying, but outside the Notifications tab is better.
