What's the threshold for when citizens critical of their government get to be called "dissidents?"
Judging by usage, the word "dissident" seems to be an implicit claim that the government in question conducts show trials.

"Dissident" is one of those words where most of the meaning is in the connotations. Like "disgruntled" before "employee."
