I wonder if, as the biological basis of intelligence becomes better understood, it will start to seem wrong to call people stupid.

PCness is not about moving on a scale "more sensitive/less sensitive", it's about refinement of understanding of other humans.

I hope 100 years from now, PC will be an embarrassing footnote in history, like witch hunts and national socialism.

It could go the other way -- understanding the biological basis of intellect might put it into the same category as other genetic traits.
-
This may be especially true as AI improves; stupid people might buy AIs the same way as some people now colour their hair.

Agreed - it is just how we dismiss people shorthand. Reality is there are no intrinsic metrics / far too many “intelligence axes” to judge
-
All of us “score” differently on all the axes of mental ability and it changes day to day; fatigue, illness, age etc. - lazy generalisations

There's no hypocrisy in thinking he's dumb, thus shouldnt lead the free world, but should still be afforded human dignity: food, shelter etc

I find it less a probl of pc but a structural one: they're there, so should you, and how do you keep them from hurting themselves / others.

Dumb, then jerk, then evil, then murderer will all fall away. They'll seem as senseless as accusing someone of being a "short epileptic!"

Yes, & just the start! The more we know abt human behavior the less we ascribe to free will. Pride, shame, and name calling all dissolve.

The same type of people also go after Trump and Bannon's looks / hair etc . Some people just can't resist the ad-hom attacks

Or it might go the other way. When I understand something, I can say it is broken. "Mind is broken" becomes the same as an object being so.
