All other things being equal, most people will be happier working where you win by doing good work.

The young don't realize how rare such jobs are. Partly because they're naive, and partly because it's deliberately hidden from them.

What do you mean by winning?
-
There's usually a clear consensus in each case.
-
Definitely not easy to express. I think easiest definition is "what would need to happen that there's no question I did amazing work?"
-
I love this definition. Thanks! Was struggling how one "wins" at a more vocational career.

You can't "pay attention" to something that's deliberately hidden, until you discover it. Then you're part of it.
-
That's why two tweets later he said it's often deliberately hidden.
-
Then you see my concern.
-
The point isn't solving for it, it's asking better questions and valuing the right things. You won't do that if you don't bother.
-
I read this as "you should pay attention to invisibles as you make your early career moves" which seems like founder-speak to me
-
Or, just ask the question. Of your boss, of employees. Even small companies have reps. It's not perfect, but it's better than alternative
-
And be fed a bunch of garbage. Who is going to answer that question with truth, "screw as many idiots out of their paychecks as possible?"

Because no one teaches them what 'win' really means (beyond show off and make money); and how to win for themselves and the society

Could you please explain what you mean by "win when you do good work?" Aren't most jobs like that?
