The Tesla Model S was like the iPhone in that all other manufacturers now have to copy it. The difference is many don't realize that yet.

There's no analog to Android in this situation. That gives Tesla an advantage that Apple didn't have.

It's possible to imagine a future in which few other car manufacturers survive. Not saying that will happen, but remarkable it's possible.

I don’t know any manufacturer who thinks they don’t have to switch to all electric drive. Only question is how quickly.

A teslamorphic car isn't just electric though. There's also the software. That will be even harder for them.

They're also not used to iterating at the rate of a softw centric co, which leaves them farther & farther behind.

Oh, Tesla is SO much more than a mere car. There is a natural buy in to solar roof & Powerwall. Now they are starting to aggregate PW2 too

Tesla owns a global charger network, stores, mechanics, and over air sw updates. No other car manufacturers are even close here.

People don’t change cars as often as they do mobile phones so they have time to adapt. There is more to fear from Apple than from Tesla.

Lot of buzz words here. Tesla is great, but the hardest part is just batteries. Electric motors are fairly straightforward.
