If what stripe is doing is teaching noncoders to code, then twitter only had this intermittently, eg js code class by

If this is widely used, I suspect stripe is more unusual in making time for employees to study than in offering the classes.

We did several versions of this at twitter, but found it hard to get attendees to commit much time except during hackweek.

Wondering why this isn't a norm in tech companies already.

Teaching is hard, and about orthogonal to the rest of tech co work. And hiring outsiders is crazy expensive.

This might not be feasible for small companies but for unicorns and major tech companies this can be implemented.

Has little to do with valuation and a lot to do with headcount. Around 500 seems to work, but WhatsApp was around 50ish at $19B valuation.
