I can afford to subscribe to every site, but I never do. The reason is not the cost, but that subscribing is such a mess.

I now assume all subscriptions (a) require too much work to sign up (b) autorenew and (c) deliberately make it hard to cancel.

Existing publishers seem so wedded to their bad practices that solving the problem may require not just new tech but new publishers.

If one publisher changed their practice, would you even know?

if there's a service to consolidate subscriptions (with consolidated fees and easy way to unsubscribe), would you try it ?

If it had multiple things I want so subscribe to. E.g. both the NY Times and the Washington Post.

How would you go about solving this problem? Pay per view model or something else completely?

I'd probably build something for a new generation of publications and assume the NYT would be the last to sign up for it.

Mark Little suggested at Women in Media that we need a 'Netflix for news'. One signup and you can access any journalism site you want.

I've been using @Blendle and like it. Pay as you go reading from multiple (normally paywalled) news sources.

Also there is too much bundling / upselling. NY times is a good example: I like the politics, but their tech / lifestyle news is irrelevant.
