One of the most rationally useful things you can cultivate is finding pleasure in the discovery of your own ignorance
-

Learned it in CFAR's applied rationality workshop- here are a few ways I try to do it
-
1- Connect the pleasurable feeling of intellectual awe with the precursor feeling of "I don't know this"
-
2- Consider your identity- e.g. "I'm proud of being the kind of person who updates my beliefs, this feeling of ignorance means I can update"
-
3- Feel admiration/love for a person teaching you: "this feeling of ignorance means I can learn from and bond with this lovely smart person"
