Asking "what is the next Facebook?" is not the way to find it. You find it by making something you want, probably as a side project.

One reason there are so few really big startups founded by MBAs is that MBAs don't do side projects.
-
You're one reason I wrote "so few" instead of "no."
-
there's no one path. Broad minds are rich minds. Your comment was surprisingly narrow minded for someone with as broad a mind as you.
-
It wasn't just "MBAs suck." It's an important and subtle point that the best startups grow organically out of the founders' lives.
-
The really big cos weren't meant to be cos at first. They were just tinkering. That's harder for MBAs.
-
I've seen the pattern over and over in YC interviews.

None of these things have replaced each other. The hulking corpse of IBM is still out there!

The goal of Facebook is to be the next Facebook, so they buy (Instagram, WhatsApp) or copy (Snap) what comes close. It will eventually fail.

Where does Amazon fit in?

Very good question. Have been thinking about that myself. They could break this pattern.

Amazon is a very unusual company. Do you think Tesla & SpaceX follow a similar path?

Feels like it's
@uber or at least will be in similar space -
It's
@Airbnb . Playing very safe. Growing silently. No big controversy. -
Very much agree that they are the silent bull.
-
Uber and AirBnb are unnecessary intermediaries of trust. Will be taken out by dApps

You mean blockchain? Yes, in the long-term.
-
What's a "blockchain" exactly?
-
Google it – many see it as the next wave of the internet
-
Blockchain isn't anything unless you have enough decentralization to make it count. Does he or you know what you're even saying?
